Happy New Year!

I hope everyone survived the Holidays! Wallets are most likely a bit lighter but that is the American way, isn’t it?? Does anyone want to discuss the lack of snow? I didn’t think so. I was told there is some snow up north and that the riding after the weekend was actually quite good. Gotta wait until the crowd leaves on Sunday and ride during the week. But then again, that’s the way all the trails in NH are, you need to wait until the crowds leave to enjoy them.

Because of the lack of snow, there really isn’t too much to report or too much going on. That being said, I will get right down to business. We (meaning me, Jill & Dave) just returned from Yellowstone and for those of you who have been there when I say "WOW"! know what I am talking about. For those of you who have never been there I must say that this is a trip that you must, must, must take! When Jack Willey was alive and did his trips out there each winter, he tried and tried to get us to go out with him and we never did. Just couldn’t find the time and just couldn’t justify the cost, etc. What a misconception and mistake that was. Steve Parsons put a wonderful trip together for us and we can’t thank him enough for all he did to make it a thoroughly fantastic experience. Thanks Steve! The only thing we needed to concern ourselves with was getting to the airport and our meals. Literally everything else was taken care of from plane fare, bus ride, snowmobile rentals, gas/oil for machines, 1 trip into the Park on a 4-stroke sled, suits, helmets & boots, if needed and two free meals. We left on Sunday a.m. from Logan and returned Friday. We will have Linda post some pix for all to share.

Now the news for the 2008 trip. Steve Parsons is going to put another trip together next year, January of 2008 with a tentative date of leaving on Monday, the 7th and returning on Saturday, the 12th. I will tell you that our 2007 trip cost an initial $1500 each which included all the above. We did upgrade our sleds for an extra cost but that was our choice. He is going to try his best to keep it as close to that price as he can. He will need a commitment from anyone interested of $200 for each person which will hold your spot on the trip. There will be a limited number of spots and so you will need to at least get your initial deposit in to hold a spot. There is also another trip heading out the following week if this week doesn’t work for some but that, also, has a limited number of openings available and believe me, this trip does fill up. So I am going to give you Steve’s e-mail address as well as his phone number. He is in charge of the entire trip, the club is not sponsoring it in any way. He’s a member of our club and asked me to mention the trip in the next newsletter.

Steve’s information is email address - dinsmoor17@aol.com His phone # is 603-293-4542. He will be more than happy to answer any and all questions you might have regarding this trip. When you e-mail Steve, be sure to put " Yellowstone 2008" in the subject so he’ll know not to delete the e-mail. Believe me when I say, it’s so worth the money and time. We are already signed up for 2008!  He had no spots left on this trip and actually had 5 or 6 people call the week prior to leaving to see if there were any spots available. Turns out that because of the lack of snow here in NH, the trip was even more valuable to those of us who had tickets. Even if we had been blessed with enough snow to ride here, going to Yellowstone is still worth the trip. Give him a call or drop him an e-mail if you are interested.

Thank you again Steve as well as Jay Mazzola, another club member from Mass,. who also happened to be on the trip with us. They were more than willing to show us the places of interest outside the park and made sure we knew where to eat and shop. We appreciate all you guys did for us while we were out there. How’s that cell service Jay???

A quick "Happy Birthday" to 2 little boys, one who just turned 2 and the other who will turn 2 soon. Trey Bourgeois, son of Marc & Heidi Bourgeois turned 2 on Jan. 25 (same day as my wife Jill, except she didn’t turn 2!!) and to Evan Dickson, son of Kris & Mark Dickson, (grandson of Sundee & Russ Dumais, also club members) who will turn 2 on Valentine’s Day! Happy Birthday to both boys!!

One more note, don’t forget that you can register your machines not only at HK Powersports in Laconia and Tilton but also at our new NHSA Office in Tilton, next to the Shalimar on Rte. 3. Trish will be more than happy to help you!

That being said, let’s hope for snow here in NH, the groomers are very restless and ready to hit the trails!
