2006 Newsletter
Greetings Club Members!
It’s that time of year again, time to gear up for the upcoming season!
You will find the membership forms attached for 2006-2007. Once again,
we are asking you to get these back to us in a timely manner. Jill does
the memberships with NHSA via the Internet so they are input
immediately upon arrival here at the office, therefore, you literally
have until November 1st to get them back if you want to receive the
Sno-Traveler. Once again, I can’t stress enough about using e-mail to
receive the monthly newsletters. There was a very good response last
year and am looking to boost the e-mail enrollment this year. You must,
must, must print legibly when filling out your e-mail address. There
were quite a few newsletters returned again last year for undeliverable
addresses so please write clearly. Also, I can’t stress enough that you
use your "home" snail mail address. Jill gives your addresses to NHSA
and if you are using a summer address or an address with no mailbox,
the Sno-Traveler will be returned as "undeliverable". So all we ask is
you send us a usable e-mail and home address.
Our
first meeting of the year will be Tuesday, Sept. 26th. It will be our usual "pot luck
supper" at the Sportsmen’s Club in Gilford. We’ll open the doors at
6:00 with the goal to eat by 6:30 and the meeting to follow at 7:00.
We’d love to see more faces attend some of our meetings this year. Our
last meeting, which was back in April, with a pot luck supper and the
election of board of directors yielded approx. 15 people. Very poor
attendance and so we are looking to increase that number for Sept.
Our new board of directors is as follows: Dave Glazier; Scott Hanson;
Bill Bickford; John Decato; Norm Daigle; Mike Smith; Mark Dickson; Russ
Dumais; Jon Bossey; Paul Haskell; Jason Trefrey; Walter Gahm and Tyson
McKenna. The directors meet the 2nd Tuesday of each month at Ferguson’s
and is open to any member who would like to attend. All we ask is you
let us know if you will be attending prior to the meeting.
The NHSA office has moved from Concord to Tilton . They are located at
614 Laconia Road, Unit 4, just up the road from the Shalimar Restaurant
& Motel on Rte. 3 in the mini strip mall where the gas station is
located. They will be offering sled registrations this year. You will
be able to join the club (should you forget to join prior) and register
your sled at the same time. Their hours to register will be 9 a.m. to 3
p.m. Monday - Friday. Stop by and check out the new office and say
hello to Irene & Gail!
We are
working on some fundraising ideas now that the Grass Drags are
no longer an option for us. If any of you have any ideas, please
pass
them along. We have tried making onion rings at Gilford Old Home Day;
we published cookbooks; held yard sales and have raffled snowmobiles.
None of these events have yielded the profits we need to keep our club
afloat so we need to proceed with caution when we decide how we will be
raising funds. We don’t want it to cost the club money.
Be sure to continually check the web site for updates, etc. Linda is
very good about posting any work parties and/or events that will be
happening.
We ask you again to consider receiving the newsletter via e-mail. We
really need to cut our spending now that we don’t have the guaranteed
money from the Grass Drags. Be sure to fill out the form legible so
Jill can read your e-mail address correctly. Hope
to see you at the Pot Luck Supper on Tuesday, Sept. 26th.
John Ferguson
