December 2006 Newsletter

Merry Christmas!

Tis the season - we sit here waiting for the first snow fall! Keep the faith, it will come for sure this year!! We have lots to talk about so let’s get down to business.

Congratulations to Jason and Caroline Drouin on the birth of their son, Cameron Michael, who made his entrance into the world on Sunday, November 26. He weighed in at 6 lbs. 5 oz. and measured 19" long. I hear Caroline is doing quite well and actually made an appearance at her restaurant a week later! Nice work guys! You will have a really special Christmas this year! I’ll bet Caroline’s mom, Bridget, is ecstatic and loving her new role as "Grammy"!!

Some of you may have noticed the different e-mail address this newsletter is being sent from. We have had a problem with sending out e-mails to some of the hotmail e-mail accounts. Seems quite a few of them have been returned as undeliverable so we will try our personal metrocast e-mail address in sending them out and see how this goes. It is very important that you all receive these newsletters as there is a lot going on. To those of you who have not been receiving the newsletters each month, we are holding a 50/50 raffle as our fundraiser this year. We are selling 100 tickets at $100 each and will split the total with the winner. So you have the potential to win $5000 if all 100 tickets are sold. The deadline for purchasing a ticket is Tuesday, December 12, the night of the Christmas Party/Yankee Swap (which I will go into those details next). So if any of you would like to purchase a ticket you will need to contact Jill ASAP so she can set one aside. You can either e-mail her at belknapsnowmobilers@hotmail.com or you can call her at 603-528-3310. There are also tickets available at HK Powersports or at D&D Market in Belmont, see Mark Dickson or see Russ Dumais at Airport Country Store & Deli in Gilford. We have some left and would love to see all 100 sold prior to the Christmas Party next week.

Speaking of which....our annual Christmas Party/Yankee Swap will be held Tuesday, December 12 at Patrick’s Pub & Eatery in Gilford once again this year. We will be having Stephanie’s fantastic buffet and following the buffet we will hold the Yankee Swap. Most of you know the routine but I will briefly explain for those of you who might be interested in attending this year. You bring a gift, most gifts are between $5 - $20, can be a joke, can be snowmobile related, liquor always is a big hit, whatever you think would be fun. We don’t mind if you "regift" something you have on hand but if you do all we ask is please bring something you have not already opened and used! So for everyone who brings a gift you will be able to select a gift. You don’t have to participate if you don’t wish to, as some chose not to but still have fun cheering the others on. It’s a great time and we’d love to see some new faces. You will have to let Jill know by this Friday, Dec. 8th if you will be coming or not. The plan is to have "happy hour" from 6 - 6:30 with the meal at 6:45. After the meal we will have a very quick meeting with the Yankee Swap to follow. So give Jill a call if you plan to attend.

Next topic is the Safety Class. We are holding the annual Safety Class for children ages 12 and above this Saturday, Dec. 9th. You will also need to pre-register your child by calling Jill as there is a limited number of seats left. The class is being held at the Sportsmen’s Club on Lily Pond Road in Gilford and will start at 8 a.m. and run until approximately 3:00 (depending on the number of students in class). Jill can give you details when you register. You will need to bring a sandwich and we will supply the rest of the lunch & snacks. There is no cost for this class.

The groomers are pretty much wrapped up and almost ready to roll. The maintenance crew has been very busy almost every weekend working on either the groomers or trail work. A big thank you to the 6 or so very dedicated guys who have continued to show up to help out each weekend. We do appreciate the help, especially this time of year as we know you all have other obligations. I believe all Dave has left to do is change the oil in the Tucker 2000 and they will be ready to rock and roll! Add a little snow to the mix and we’ll be golden!! (Guess we should say add a lot of snow to the mix).

We had 7 members attend the Trail Master’s Meeting this past Saturday at the Grand Hotel in No. Conway. Thank you to those of you who took the time to attend as it is important to have club representation each year.

So to wrap things up, you have just a few days left for the 50/50 Raffle so give Jill a call if you haven’t already purchased your ticket. Also the Christmas Party/Yankee Swap is the same night and call for that as well. We need to make this 50/50 Raffle work as it’s our only means of fund-raising this year with no grass drags any longer. Once again, we do appreciate any and all of your donations which some of you have so kindly sent in along with your memberships. These donations help more than you realize. We would also like this 50/50 Raffle to become our yearly fundraiser - who wouldn’t like the chance of winning upwards of $5000!!!!

Have a safe & Happy Holiday and New Year!
