It’s that time of year again…trail work, safety class, Trail Masters Meeting and Christmas Party. Here are all the details….

First and foremost, our annual Safety Class in Memory of Bud Wool & Jack Willey will be held on Saturday, 12/5/09 at the Sportsmen’s Club in Gilford. Your child needs to be either already 12-years old or turning 12 at some point this winter in order to receive his/her certificate. Pre-registration is required and you will need to call Jill @ 603-630-0671 to sign up. We are limiting the class to 40 students this year and the class will fill quickly so be sure to call and reserve your child’s seat as it is a requirement in order for him/her to drive solo.

The annual Trail Master’s Meeting will be held on Saturday, 11/21/09. It will be at the Attitash Grand Summit Hotel in Bartlett. Registration is required for this as well and if you are interested in attending you will need to call Jill, again, @ 603-630-0671 prior to 11/13/09 and she can give you details.

This past weekend we had a work party and much to our surprise we discovered the bridge @ Patrick’s in Gilford is in need of replacement. The entire bridge was rotten, which wasn’t on our plans for the day. We were able to strip about 2/3 of the bridge and get it re-decked. We will finish this project on Saturday, 11/14. We will be meeting at Patrick’s parking lot @ 9 a.m. for those who would like to help out. We will also be replacing some boards on the other bridges along that Airport Trail as well if we get enough help. Thanks to the guys who showed up last Saturday to help, it was appreciated. Also the “Laconia” crew managed to check the trails on that side of the lake, trimmed, cut and staked them all. Thanks guys!!

We are going to try once again this year to peak some interest in a Christmas Party/Yankee Swap. Last year we got no interest and this was the first time in all the years we’ve been involved in this club that we didn’t have a Christmas get together. I am not sure if it was the timing and/or the economy but this year hopefully we can spark some interest with something a bit different.

Bill & Sally Bickford have very generously offered to open their restaurant, Kitchen Cravings in Gilford, to our club for our private use on Friday, 12/11/09. We will have use of their facilities exclusively and they are offering a buffet for our consumption!! The menu they are offering is Baked Stuff Haddock, Baked Chicken Kiev, Marinated Steak Tips, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy, Butternut Squash, Corn, Rolls & Apple Crisp. We will also be able to bring our own “beverages”…..but everyone is urged to drink extra responsible as Bill & Sally are still liable, even though it is a closed establishment and we are using it privately. So please keep that in mind. You will need to let Jill know by Monday, 12/5 if you will be attending. The cost will be $25.00 per person and keep in mind that you will not have a bar tab as you are able to bring your own. Bill is offering the attending children to eat @ half price, $12.50. We will open the doors at 6:00 p.m. for “happy hour” and h’orderves with the meal @ 6:45. After the meal we’ll have a very brief meeting with the Yankee Swap to follow. It promises to be a fun time, great food and even greater company!! Hope to see you there. We are hoping by having it on a Friday night we can also peak the interest of some of you who normally wouldn’t be able to attend due to work or other commitments.
