December 2008 Newsletter Merry Christmas!!
The Holiday Season is upon us and that means only one thing, hopefully the snow will not be far behind!
The trails are pretty much wrapped up on the Gilford side and we thank all who helped this year. We had 3 bridges that we needed to unexpectedly build and as usual you came through. We did a quick “reroute” thru Lyman’s property where it crosses Hoyt Road. When you cross by Lyman’s sign instead of heading left towards Roger’s Field, you will now go straight across Lyman’s over a new bridge and then a sharp left. John Roger’s is building a house in the middle of our former trail, hence the reroute. He’s been very cooperative and receptive of our trail system thru his property. Luckily for us it wasn’t a major undertaking, only took 2 weekends to finish. So those of you who are familiar with our trail system and this particular trail, please be cautious and aware of this reroute. It is pretty well marked. The signs have been put up, or I should say the posts to mount the signs have been driven in and ready to go. The “boys” took care of finishing up the trail work on the Laconia side. Thanks Jon, Jason and whoever else helped them. Didn’t get any other names but your help is appreciated greatly!
The guys have been working this weekend on the groomers, changing the oil, filters, etc. and hopefully will be ready to go by the first snow. They have delivered the Laconia Tucker to Jon Gamans, where it will be parked for the winter. Tyson, Dave and Morgan put the Laconia Tucker in the Christmas parade in Laconia and that was my granddaughter, Morgan, for those of you who were at the parade, sitting in front of the groomer. She looks forward to being in the parades with the groomer.
Our Safety Class is scheduled for this weekend, 12/6. If you have a child attending be sure to be there by 7:45 so that Jill can get them signed in and ready for 8:00 sharp start time.
The annual Trail Masters Meeting was recently held in Plymouth and we had Jon Gamans, Ben Pearson and Troy Holmes attend the Groomer Awareness class. They are now authorized to operate the groomers, once they’ve had some seat time with an existing operator.
Our Christmas Party/Yankee Swap is scheduled for next Tuesday, 12/9 at Patrick’s Pub in Gilford. We will be having our usual buffet prepared by Stephanie and her kitchen crew and we have yet to have anyone say they didn’t enjoy this buffet. We realize that money is tight and everyone is cutting back and trimming but we do hope you can fit this into your schedule and budget. We do have a lot of fun. Once again, if you would like to participate in the Yankee Swap just bring a gift and you will be entitled to receive one. If you would like to attend the party but not do the gift deal, that is OK too, you are welcome to stay and watch the gift swap. There is always one gift that everyone wants that goes from person to person to person.
So we hope to see you there on Tuesday, 12/9. We plan to be at Patrick’s by 6:00 with a short happy hour with Stephanie serving around 6:45 followed by a very quick meeting, reading the minutes, etc. and the Yankee Swap to follow.
You will need to let Jill know by Friday, 12/5 if you will be attending. Our home # is 528-3310 and her cell is 630-0671. Please be sure to give her a call. She needs to give Stephanie a head count. Once again as in the past, if you have any issues, problems, or suggestions, feel free to give a call or drop an e-mail. We recently had an issue that we feel has been taken care of and all parties are satisfied, I hope.
Our email address is belknapsnowmobilers@hotmail.com . Please be sure to periodically check the web site for club happenings, news, etc. Also, if any of you are receiving this newsletter either via e-mail or snail mail and don’t wish to receive it any longer let Jill know. She may have missed a few of your names who have already told her so you may have to let her know again. She’s working on the list for 2009 and some of you may be receiving this both ways, snail and e-mail and there may be a few duplicates she hasn’t picked up yet.
This will be the last newsletter that you will be receiving using last year’s membership list. So if you haven’t sent your membership dues in yet your name won’t appear on the newsletter list until you send it in. Linda Davis posts all our newsletters on the web site as well so for those of you who have dragged your feet in sending in your memberships, you can always pick it up on the web site. Hope to see you on Tuesday, 12/9 and Happy Holidays to you and your families!
