Our snowmobile club exists primarily due to the dedicated efforts of our volunteer members.  Even the people who volunteer to operate the Tucker groomers actually pay for their membership dues just like you.

Volunteers are housewives, high-tech executives, teachers, students, construction company owners, store owners and a funeral director. Many drive from out-of-state just to volunteer on a few weekends.  And all leave the effort with a big smile and a great feeling of satisfaction!

If you ride on it, a volunteer did it!

Fall 2011 trail maintenance.

Remember that a bridge also needs to support the weight and width of the clubs largest grooming equipment.

To provide access for both sleds and groomers, all of our trails need to be cleared of fallen trees and low-hanging branches.

The member in the lower right drove up from Connecticut just to volunteer.

Women have always played key roles in making our club a success!

Jill Ferguson (seated in the ATV) is perhaps the most-key
person in the background who makes things happen.

All age groups are welcome.

Sunday, November 6th, 2011:  Clearing a few fallen trees on
State Corridor 15 south aka Gilford's "Flying Diaper Trail" section

From an earlier year but the walk was just as enjoyable.

The work parties are well-planned and are usually
completed by lunchtime so you'll still have your weekend.

This was a sagging bridge next to the former Gilford Getty station on Route-11 across from Walmart.

You may not think about of all of the bridges that you pass over but a lot of work goes into each one.

The support base was simply GONE.
No power tools.  This may look like a macho-task but the reality is that with the proper 100-year old tools, it was not all that difficult.

This member drove up from Massachusetts just to volunteer.

This damage was after Tropical Storm Irene
A bit like building a tree fort when you were a kid but with much bigger toys.  What a great feeling!

This year our Gilford-side Tucker groomer needed
some serious aesthetic TLC,  paint and new letting.
The transmission was also repaired and a new
drag was purchased for the 2012 season.

Over Columbus Day weekend, volunteers helped to remove
the fuel tank and sandblast to enable full painting.

Dave Glazier, our lead Trail Administrator, felt like
a proud father after working on the refurbishment.

The camo-color did not stay.  It was just the primer.

The first coat of paint

Rain required that any further painting be moved indoors.

Thanks go to Miles Marine for the transportation!

The final coats.  Nice!

Extra-special thanks go to Gator Signs of Gilford for
groomer lettering and "an offer we could not refuse".

Local businesses play a huge role in the club's success.

Spring 2011 removal of the railroad bridge cover next to Laconia's Lakeport Landing
The bridge cover was designed to be rolled away on custom-made steel railroad wheels.
Rolling the bridge cover was actually quite easy given
the number of volunteers!  Several came from out-of-state.
The cover is stored for the summer
Member, club Director and volunteer, Jon Bossey.

Note the smiles!

Yes, this is a great way to spend some fun outdoor time with new and old  friends.

If you ride on it, a volunteer did it!

Why not consider volunteering, having fun and getting to know new friends at our next club project?
